Constipation, leakage, loss of control and difficulty in evacuation of bowels is a common problem, more prevalent in women.
There are various forms of constipation. Some require use of laxatives and others are amenable to surgical intervention. The patients need to be throughly worked up before any surgery is undertaken.
Mr Anwar introduced a procedure called Laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy (LVMR) in the local trust. This keyhole procedure has helped some of these patients tremendously.
